Young Independence regional chairman for the South West Dan Evans responds to the Euro democracy crisis in Portugal, by saying:
“I spent the start of every summer as a child travelling to Portugal, often with an unaccompanied minor sign around my neck to see my Mum and family who lived there. Over the years I saw some of the destruction the European Union was doing to such a gorgeous part of the world and when the euro hit it was even worse. However nothing quite like what has happened since the latest election, President Anibal Cavaco Silva refusing to let a democratically elected group of parties form a majority ruling coalition because they are anti-EU is not undemocratic it is anti-democratic.
Instead of listening to the will of the people the President has used the excuse that it is too risky to allow a Eurosceptic ruling majority (multiple left-wing anti-austerity parties forming a coalition). He would prefer to give it to a minority government to appease Brussels.
What is the point of having an election to give people a democratic choice, to then make a separate choice for them?
People need to start seeing the overreach of power from Brussels, this isn’t a right or left argument, this is about everyone. Again we have seen the will of the people ignored, the EU is not becoming a dictatorship; it is a dictatorship.
My thoughts are with the people of Portugal, my second home. I just hope the United Kingdom can vote to leave the European Union, not just because it will help return us to a self-ruling sovereign nation, but because it will lead the way for other nations such as Portugal to follow in our footsteps.”
Dan Evans’ family lived in Portugal since he was three years old, they speak the language fluently and have gained citizenship.

PARTIDOS ANTI-UE PROIBIDOS A FORMAR GOVERNO EM PORTUGAL
O Presidente regional da “Young Independence” do Sudoeste (Inglaterra), Dan Evans, responde à crise de democracia do Euro em Portugal, o seguinte:
“Desde era criança, passei todos os anos no início de cada verão em Portugal, muitas vezes com um sinal de ‘menor não acompanhado’ a visitar a minha mãe e também outras familiares que moravam lá. Ao longo dos anos vi alguma da destruição causada pelo União Europeia com esta belíssima parte do mundo que piorou ainda mais quando o euro foi implementado nesta área. O pior ainda foi durante a última eleição; o Presidente, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, de facto recusou-se a deixar que um grupo das representantes, democraticamente eleitos entre os partidos, formar uma coalizão governista maioria porque na opinião dele os membros, bem democraticamente eleitos, são anti EU e não só mas também, não democráticos é acima de tudo antidemocrático.
Em vez de ouvir a vontade do povo, o Presidente expressou a desculpa de que é demasiado arriscado permitir uma maioria dominante eurocéptico (vários partidos de esquerda anti astéricos a formar uma coalizão). O Presidente prefere-se entregar este direito a um governo minoritário apaziguando o Bruxelas.
Porque ter uma eleição (a entregar ao povo a escolha democrática) e depois posteriormente, sendo feita pelo povo uma escolha separada?
Os povos precisam perceber o sobre alcance do poder de Bruxelas. Este conceito não excluiu ninguém, isto é sobre todos os cidadãos Europeias. Mais uma vez temos o caso da vontade do povo a ser ignorado. A UE não está atronar-se uma ditadura, mas já é uma ditadura.
Os meus sentimentos todos estão com o povo português, o Portugal é e sempre será a minha segunda lar. A minha esperança do futuro é que o povo do Reino Unido pode votar a deixar a União Europeia para o lado, e não apenas porque isto nos de facto pode ajudar voltar a uma nação soberana com auto decisão, mas também a liderar o caminho para outras nações, como Portugal a seguir os nossos passos.”
Vários familiares do Dan Evans moravam em Portugal desde ele teve três anos de idade. Estas familiares dele falam a língua portuguesa fluentemente e têm cidadania lá.
