Each day the NHS produce data that shows the COVID-19 related deaths in hospitals. They break it down by region, age, ethnicity, condition, trust and where “no positive COVID-19 test result was received”.
According to the NHS data as of 5pm on 12th May 2020 426 people across English regions had COVID-19 mentioned on their death certificate, where a positive test result for COVID-19 was not received.
The data also shows that of all the 22,049 hospital deaths 95% had a pre-existing condition, and 91% were over the age of 60.
Every death is sad, however it is very important to give people the data. Scaring people will give them anxiety, stress and can lead to poorer mental health with serious consequences.
