The UK government were first looking to create Air Bridges between countries on a reciprocal agreement, however they were rumoured to drop this idea because of opposing views from the SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, and the inability to get the agreements in place in a timely manner.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has now officially updated its global advisory against ‘all but essential’ travel, exempting destinations that “no longer pose an unacceptably high risk for British travellers”
